Does your 'yes' mean 'yes'?

- Sunday, 1 July 2018. to read...
I've had this problem in my former years where I would not keep my word. My friends can attest to this ,

"Keiz are you coming to the dinner?"
"yes of course I am"
(on the day of the dinner, I would be fast asleep, then send my sentiments the following day)

My friends then started taking my promises and confirmations with a pinch of salt. Many of the times, I hate using the word 'NO'. So, I made promises I know I may not be able to keep or, made them just to please those around me. I have reached to a place now, where, I'd like to wipe that slate clean. I say yes to things I know for sure I would be attending or, I can do and, in turn I've learnt to say no.

Changing my issue with making promises to people,  had nothing to do with anyone but for myself. Biblically it states,

" But let your yes be yes and your no, no. For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. "
                          - Mathew 5:37
As a young lady, I wanted "my word" to mean something. I wanted to always follow through with what I say. Wading in the grey areas of ambiguity of my words, isn't something I was getting fond of, as I got older.

So here is my question to you,"Does your 'yes' mean 'yes'?"

* Don't allow your words to condemn you; speak clearly, truthfully and plainly!

* Avoid making promises or swearing to others. There is no need to do this if, your 'yes' means 'yes'.

* Life happens, which means; that at sometime you would have to revoke your words but don't make this a habit.

* Speak & live by words of integrity! Indefinitely you will speak volumes to those who rely on you.

One of my 'yes' meaning 'yes' memories...

Start today by answering 'yes' or 'no' to requests without explanations or adding promises to it...
